The Deadly Doctors Forum (In conjunction with the Rural Doctors Network 2022 Rural GP’s Conference)

Where In conjunction with the Rural Doctors Network 2022 Rural GP’s Conference at the Crown Plaza Sydney Coogee Beach

The Deadly Doctors Forum will be hosted by the Aboriginal Health and Medical Research Council (AHMRC) and will be a great opportunity for Doctors working or considering working in Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services to meet and discuss the critical issues that affect their work and the sector.

The agenda is still being finalised but have confirmed the following speakers:

  • Dr. Kathryn Hutt, Medical Director at Doctors’ Health NSW
    • Dr. Hutt will talk about the practicalities of self-care and importance of peer support for GP’s.
  • Dr. Joseph Lawler, Consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist in Sydney's Inner West and in Western NSW
    • Dr. Lawler will discuss Hepatitis B and C and bowel cancer screening in Aboriginal communities.
  • Dr. Megan Elliot-Rudder, GP Obstetrician
    • Dr. Elliot-Rudder will talk about the newly released maternity booklet on maternal models of care.


After the forum at 6pm, the Rural Doctors Network will be hosting a cocktail function with drinks.

Accommodation at the Crowne Plaza will be provided by the AH&MRC at the Crowne Plaza for people attending the event and who live outside the Sydney metropolitan area; there are limited rooms so please register early.

The Health Workforce Scholarship Program provides bursaries for those working in ACCHO’s who want to undertake training and upskilling. This scholarship program, if successful, can be used to re-claim costs associated with travelling to this event.
