Event Summary

Obesity is a chronic disease and global public health challenge. Obesity can lead to complications such as Type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease that can reduce life expectancy.  It has been reported that half of Western NSW Local Health District adults are identified as obese by BMI criteria. Dr Hook’s masterclass will provide an up-to-date overview of bariatric surgical options, pharmacological interventions, eligibility criteria, referral pathways, and long-term follow-up, enabling GPs to make informed clinical decisions and better support their patients.
