Needs Assessment Workshops

The Western NSW Primary Health Network (WNSW PHN) will be conducting community and service provider workshops in June/July as part of the 2018 Health Needs Assessment to inform service planning.

At the independently facilitated workshops the WNSW PHN will seek insights from community and service providers on the storyline for health in their areas; including emerging health issues, gaps in services and advice on how to deliver appropriate and culturally safe primary care.

The workshops aim to provide a voice for issues and people not represented in routine statistical data collections and very importantly facilitate a shared approach to designing and delivering appropriate health care. The feedback and findings from the sessions will directly inform the PHN’s work in supporting, planning, commissioning and evaluating health services.

Workshops will be held at Broken Hill, Orange, Dubbo and Bourke and there will be 3 sessions in each location:

  1. Aboriginal Health yarn
  2. Community
  3. GPs, Service Providers and Allied Health

Australian Healthcare and Hospital Association CEO, Alison Verhoeven will co-facilitate the sessions with member of the Prime Minister’s Indigenous Advisory Council, Roy Ah-See. The advice received from the Aboriginal stakeholder sessions will be incorporated into the broader discussions at the Community sessions.
