We support workforce attraction, retention, professional development, practice sustainability, and innovative models of care to ensure communities can continue to access high-quality healthcare close to home.

Workforce Recruitment and Retention

  • Supporting practices experiencing workforce shortages.
  • Working with regional partners to attract clinicians to Western NSW.
  • Facilitating workforce initiatives that strengthen recruitment, retention and practice viability.
  • Supporting innovative approaches to GP recruitment, including International Medical Graduate (IMG) pathways and supervision models.

Education, Training and Professional Development

  • Delivering locally relevant CPD opportunities for GPs, nurses, allied health professionals and practice staff.
  • Supporting accredited education and training programs with RACGP and ACRRM recognition.
  • Providing opportunities for networking, peer learning and clinical upskilling.
  • Building workforce capability through education, quality improvement and evidence-based practice initiatives. 

General Practice and Workforce Development Support

  • Supporting practices with quality improvement, accreditation readiness and workforce sustainability.
  • Assisting providers to work to full scope of practice.
  • Building practice capability through digital health, data quality and contemporary models of care.
  • Supporting multidisciplinary approaches to healthcare delivery. 

Workforce Intelligence and Planning

  • Using regional workforce data, stakeholder insights and community needs analysis to inform future workforce initiatives.
  • Working with partners to identify emerging workforce challenges and opportunities.
  • Supporting evidence-based planning to strengthen workforce sustainability across the region.

Regional Partnerships

  • Collaborating with organisations including RDN, RACGP, ACCRM, education providers, Local Health Districts and local councils to support workforce wellbeing and sustainability.
  • Connecting practices and clinicians with available workforce programs, training opportunities and support services.

The Welcome Experience program provides vital support to healthcare workers relocating to Western NSW, helping you to integrate into your new community. Local Area Connectors assist with finding housing, childcare,  education, and ensuring a smooth transition to your new role.

The Welcome Experience is designed to facilitate, attract, prepare and welcome key frontline workers to regional NSW. Local Area Connectors are available to connect you and your family with local people and local resources helping you settle in and feel at home in your new community.
