MBS bulk billing incentives and the Bulk Billing Practice Incentive Program

Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) bulk billing incentives now apply to all Medicare-eligible patients and registration for the Bulk Billing Practice Incentive Program is open.

The BBPIP provides an additional quarterly 12.5% incentive payment on every $1 of MBS benefit paid from eligible bulk billed services, split evenly between the GP and the practice. This incentive payment will be paid in addition to Medicare benefits and MBS bulk billing incentives.

To participate in BBPIP, practices must:

  • Be MyMedicare registered.
  • Bulk bill all eligible patients for all BBPIP MBS eligible services.
  • Register as a fully bulk billing practice in Healthdirect Australia’s National Health Services Directory.
  • Display Medicare Bulk Billing Practice signage on-site.
  • Meet the BBPIP program guidelines.

To calculate your payments and register in BBPIP, visit health.gov.au/BBPIP.
