General Practitioners across Western New South Wales are being called on to share their experiences with Electronic Prescribing (EP) and the Active Script List (ASL) as part of a new research initiative aimed at improving digital health services in rural and remote communities.

A Collaborative Regional Effort

The Australian Digital Health Agency (ADHA) has contracted the Western NSW Primary Health Network (WNSW PHN) to lead this initiative. In turn, WNSW PHN has partnered with the Western NSW Health Research Network and Charles Sturt University to undertake the research and develop the final report.

Understanding Digital Health in Rural Communities

The project aims to explore how EP and ASL are currently used, the challenges faced by GPs and patients, and the motivations driving or limiting adoption. By capturing local perspectives, the research will help inform the development of targeted communication and training materials to support prescribers in the region.

Understanding the lived experiences and behaviours of both healthcare providers and patients is crucial to improving digital health delivery.

This research will ensure future support is tailored to the unique needs of our regional and remote communities.

GP Participation and Reimbursement

To gather insights, researchers are inviting General Practitioners to participate in individual interviews via video call. Interviews will be conducted after business hours to accommodate busy schedules and will run for 30-60 minutes.

Participating GPs will receive a $180 (excluding GST) reimbursement, aligned with Western NSW PHN’s remuneration policy. Once the interview is completed, participants will receive invoicing instructions.

Register by 27 June

Interested General Practitioners must register their interest by 27 June 2025. Register by clicking this link.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to improve access to digital health tools and ensure equitable healthcare services for all Australians, regardless of location.
