Western NSW Primary Health Network (WNSW PHN) supports the health and wellbeing of communities across a vast and diverse landscape. As the largest PHN in New South Wales – covering over 433,000 square kilometres – our region spans both the Far West and Western NSW Local Health Districts and plays a central role in planning and funding health services in the region.

With a population of more than 310,000 people, our region is characterised by rich cultural heritage, geographic diversity and a strong sense of community. Around 19% of the population is aged over 65, and approximately 11.4% identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, nearly double the national average.

WNSW PHN supports over 300 General Practitioners operating from 112 practices across the region, playing a key role in ensuring access to essential Western and Far West NSW health services.

WNSW PHN uses a collaborative and evidence-informed approach to ensure health services in our region are aligned with the real needs of the communities we serve. We work alongside local stakeholders and service providers to conduct ongoing health needs assessments, using a mix of data insights and local feedback.

This planning approach helps us:

  • Identify health priorities across diverse population groups
  • Address service gaps in rural, remote and Aboriginal communities
  • Ensure our commissioning efforts are strategic and locally responsive

The result is a coordinated model of care that delivers accessible, person-centred health services.
