Western NSW Primary Health Network (WNSW PHN) is pleased to partner with the Black Dog Institute to deliver a Suicide Prevention Capacity Building Program in the Western NSW region, and form a Western Area Collaborative Group. The program will commence in mid to late July 2024.

We are inviting expressions of interest from key stakeholders in the Western NSW Primary Health Network (WNSW PHN) region to build shared suicide prevention capacity across the region.

Funded by the Department of Health and Aged Care through the PHN program, this initiative consists of 6 evidence-based workshops, which will be guided by Western NSW’s needs and current approaches to suicide prevention.

We understand that there are a number of suicide prevention activities occurring in your region currently. The intent of this program is to strengthen collaboration, co-ordination, and visibility of these activities. From this, we aim to support the establishment of a whole western region community collaborative to implement local suicide prevention activities in the western area.

Participation in the program is free, and we ask that you commit to attending all six of the 2-hour workshops. We are wanting to engage representatives from across the region including the Local Health Districts, service providers, health professionals, school counsellors, clinicians, local businesses, volunteer action groups, and community members and welcome individuals with a lived experience.

Please note there is only 22 available licenses for the whole region so there will be a selection process.

Spaces are limited so please email your expression of interest with your details including the service that you work for and what parts of the region you service to admin@wnswphn.org.au by COB Friday 24 of May to secure your place in the program and we will be in touch with further details in coming weeks.

An information session will be held on Tuesday 28 May at 11am. Please email lewis.bird@wnswphn.org.au to book your spot.
