Several doctors and health professionals in the Western and Far West NSW region have been recognised with honours at the recent King’s Birthday celebrations.

The King’s Birthday 2023 Honours List recognised the achievements of 1,192 Australians who have made significant contributions to their field. The Order of Australia is the country’s highest recognition for outstanding achievement and service. Many Australians from all backgrounds and parts of the country were honoured and celebrated through the Order. Western NSW Primary Health Network (WNSW PHN) congratulates these individuals for their contributions to the health of people and communities in the region.

Former Rural Doctors Network (RDN) employees were awarded the highly regarded Order of Australia Medal at the recent celebrations. Previous RDN CEO Dr Ian Cameron and Dr Paul Collett, who is a former Board member of WNSW PHN, have played instrumental roles in the establishment of the RDN. Dr Elizbeth Barrett was also awarded a Member (AM) for her service and contributions to rural and remote medicine in various roles.

WNSW PHN would also like to congratulate the local GPs and individuals that were recognised on the day and thank them for their service to medicine and contributions to improving the health outcomes of Western and Far West NSW populations.
