Online resources to help GPs support patients’ mental health
As part of the aim to help GPs manage the care of mental health consumers, the GP Psychiatry Support Line are producing a series of online resources. Headed by renowned psychiatrist Dr Martin Cohen, these videos invite psychiatrists to present a topic they specialise in, followed by Q/A.

Important immunisation update for primary care
NSW Health has advised of an increase in incidents of expired vaccines being administered to patients. It is essential that the expiry date is checked on all vaccines prior to administration to avaiod patient recall and revaccination as well as loss of patient confidence.

Australian Parliament passes legislation to strengthen My Health Record Privacy
On 26 November 2018, the Australian Parliament passed the My Health Records Amendment (Strengthening Privacy) Bill 2018.
The measures allow Australians to opt in or opt out of having a My Health Record at any time during their life. Records will be created for every Australian who wants one after 31 January 2019. After this date, a person can delete their record permanently at any time.

My Health Record opt-out period extended
The opt-out period for My Health Record has been extended to 31 January, 2019 and the opt-out portal and helpline will remain open and available until then.
