Presented by Local Bathurst Specialist
Dr Bruce McGarity, Gastroenterologist
This activity supports GPs to provide evidence-based care for patients at risk of, or living with, viral hepatitis in primary care settings. The session focuses on identifying patients who would benefit from hepatitis C screening, interpreting test results, understanding current treatment pathways, and supporting patients through treatment and follow-up. Participants will also explore practical strategies to increase testing and treatment uptake, reduce the burden of hepatitis C-related liver disease, and support the role of general practice in achieving NSW and national hepatitis C elimination goals. In addition, the activity will provide an overview of identifying patients at risk of chronic hepatitis B and applying appropriate screening, monitoring, vaccination, management, and referral pathways in general practice.
