Develop your dermoscopy skills at this upcoming face-to-face workshop hosted by Melanoma Institute Australia.
Dermoscopy is an invaluable tool for GPs, providing a more detailed assessment of skin lesions in everyday practice. Designed for GPs who are new to dermoscopy or looking to build their confidence, this introductory workshop will provide foundational knowledge and practical skills in identifying structures and distinguishing between benign and malignant skin lesions, including melanoma, using the “Chaos and Clues” algorithm.
The program will also explore dermatopathology essentials, the diagnosis of lentigo maligna, and the role of reflectance confocal microscopy in the diagnostic and referral pathway for complex lesions.
Please note that this workshop is designed specifically for General Practitioners and provides a foundational introduction to dermoscopy. Due to popular demand, it is a repeat of the session held on 31 March 2026.
Learning outcomes:
- Explain the process and benefits of evaluating skin lesions using dermoscopy in general practice.
- Identify common benign and malignant skin lesions using clinical and dermoscopic features.
- Discuss the role of reflectance confocal microscopy in skin cancer diagnosis and identify appropriate indications for referral.
- Select appropriate biopsy techniques and recognise common pitfalls in specimen handling to optimise diagnostic outcomes.
