This session will support local GPs and health professionals to better understand the challenges of providing shared end-of-life care and develop practical approaches to managing refractory symptoms. Topics will include symptom management when patients are unable to take medications orally, as well as the management of nausea, vomiting and agitation at the end-of-life.

Through a case-based discussion, participants will reflect on their own experiences of caring for patients approaching end-of-life and explore strategies for navigating challenges related to prescribing, communication and shared care. The session will also highlight how the local District Specialist Palliative Care Service can provide remote support when symptom management becomes complex.
