This session will provide a brief overview of anxiety in Australia before exploring the prevalence and experience of health-related anxiety in the spinal cord injury population. Through the use of a case study, we will explore how health-related anxiety can present so that clinicians can learn to recognise why clients may be reluctant to engage in services or recommendations. We will then provide guidance on ways you can respond to health-related anxiety with the aim to improve outcomes for clients.
Attendees will gain:
- Understanding as to why clients may feel anxious when engaging in health services.
- Ability to identify strategies to support clients who are experiencing health related anxiety.
