Learning Outcomes
- Describe the role of primary health care nurses within the Australian health care system and recognise APNA’s role in supporting professional development.
- Apply effective clinical assessment and triage principles to identify patient urgency and respond appropriately in primary health care settings.
- Implement infection prevention and control measures that protect patients, staff and the wider community, including in response to emerging infectious diseases.
- Practise ethically, legally and professionally within scope, with an understanding of accountability, delegation, supervision and leadership.
- Use evidence-based approaches to assess, monitor and support people living with chronic conditions and ageing-related health needs.
- Undertake foundational wound assessment and care, including wound cleaning, dressing selection and prevention of wound-healing complications.
- Apply immunisation principles safely and confidently, including vaccine administration, patient counselling and responding to adverse events.
