Description

Designed for Nurses and Aboriginal Health Professionals at all stages of their career, this workshop will equip you with the latest knowledge, tools, and strategies for delivering high-quality, patient-centred care. Plus, you’ll gain insights into further education pathways to support your ongoing professional development.  This comprehensive workshop is designed to equip participants with the essential skills and knowledge required to excel in primary care settings. With a focus on chronic conditions management, immunisation, Australian Health Care System, and professional practice, this program will empower participants to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care.

Learning Outcomes

  • Describe the role of primary health care nurses within the Australian health care system and recognise APNA’s role in supporting professional development.
  • Apply effective clinical assessment and triage principles to identify patient urgency and respond appropriately in primary health care settings.
  • Implement infection prevention and control measures that protect patients, staff and the wider community, including in response to emerging infectious diseases.
  • Practise ethically, legally and professionally within scope, with an understanding of accountability, delegation, supervision and leadership.
  • Use evidence-based approaches to assess, monitor and support people living with chronic conditions and ageing-related health needs.
  • Undertake foundational wound assessment and care, including wound cleaning, dressing selection and prevention of wound-healing complications.
  • Apply immunisation principles safely and confidently, including vaccine administration, patient counselling and responding to adverse events.
