Join us for this fast-paced 45-minute session where we share some insights about carers in general practice – who they are, their health needs and where you can refer them for support.
One in eight people in NSW are a carer, they are present in every general practice supporting the person they are caring for and ensuring continuity of care at home. However, carers often delay seeking healthcare for themselves, despite facing poorer health outcomes and higher rates of psychological distress than the general population. In many cases, general practice can be the first place where the strain of caring may be noticed.
This session aims to build staff confidence to recognise and support carers in everyday consults and practice workflows without adding unnecessary work to already busy teams.
