Western NSW Primary Health Network (WNSW PHN) is inviting community members, people with lived and living experience, families, carers, service providers and other stakeholders to help shape the future of alcohol and other drug (AOD) services across the region.
As part of the AOD Model Redesign Project, WNSW PHN is seeking feedback on what is working well within the current system, the challenges people experience when accessing support, and opportunities to improve services in the future. The project aims to help ensure people across Western NSW can access the right support, in the right place, at the right time.
Community consultation will play an important role in helping WNSW PHN understand current needs, gaps and barriers to accessing support. Feedback will also help identify opportunities to improve service access, coordination and integration, while informing the design of future AOD services and supports across the region.
The project will consider community feedback alongside service data, needs assessments, research evidence and policy directions to build a comprehensive understanding of the strengths, challenges and opportunities within the current AOD system. Insights gathered through consultation will help inform future service model options, planning and commissioning decisions, and support the development of services that are evidence-informed, culturally safe and responsive to local community needs.
How will feedback be used?
The information you provide will be combined with feedback from other community members, people with lived and living experience, service providers and stakeholders across Western NSW. It will also be considered alongside service data, needs assessments, research evidence and policy directions to build a comprehensive understanding of the strengths, challenges and opportunities within the current AOD system.
Insights gathered through consultation will be analysed and used to:
- Identify gaps, barriers and unmet needs within the current system.
- Understand what is working well and where improvements may be needed.
- Inform the development and testing of future AOD service model options.
- Support recommendations for future service planning and commissioning.
- Help ensure future services are evidence-informed, culturally safe, responsive to local needs and designed to achieve better outcomes for people and communities.
Where findings are reported, feedback will be combined and presented in a de-identified format to protect individual privacy. No decisions will be based on a single person’s feedback; rather, consultation findings will contribute to a broader body of evidence that will guide the AOD Model Redesign Project.
WNSW PHN is committed to keeping communities and stakeholders informed throughout the project. Consultation findings, project updates and key outcomes will be shared regularly, with ongoing opportunities for engagement as the project progresses.
