Patients who access health care require adequate knowledge to make informed choices about treatments. Chronic pain patients need self-management skills to complement their medical treatment. Therefore, we must provide patients with knowledge and skills based on a biopsychosocial model. This session aims to guide participants through the process of introducing pain management concepts to patients and provide an understanding of how therapeutic education promotes patient empowerment and supports self-management. The session will also provide information on how to avoid, reduce or stop opioids.
