IBD Workshop 6 - Managing complex IBD issues - Relapse and comorbidity
When | Tuesday 2 September 6:30 - 8:00 pm |
Where | Online |
Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis affect more than 180,000 Australians and require ongoing, coordinated care. General practitioners are essential to effective, multidisciplinary management of these chronic conditions, but many report limited training and confidence in this area.
Workshop 6 addresses some of the most challenging aspects of IBD management—supporting patients experiencing disease relapse, co-occurring mental health conditions, and substance use issues.
This 90-minute interactive session is designed to help GPs navigate complex clinical presentations with confidence and care.
Topics include:
- Strategies for recognising and managing IBD relapse in general practice
- Understanding and responding to complex mental health presentations in IBD patients
- Safe and compassionate approaches to managing patients with IBD who use illicit drugs
Led by a multidisciplinary panel of GPs, gastroenterologists, and educators, the session features case-based learning, peer discussion, and practical tools aligned with national clinical guidelines.
