Recognising and Responding to Sexual Violence in Adults (Program) – Nurse & Doctor Intakes

This three-unit program addresses a known gap in medical training on sexual violence. The curriculum has been developed by forensic clinicians and nurses from Monash University and the Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine. Practitioners can do one, two or all three units depending on their existing knowledge and practice reach. The units are delivered over a six-week period (a total of six hours) through interactive content and two one-hour Zoom workshops with expert practitioners.
Unit 1 – Sexual Violence: Drivers and Impacts
Doctor Intakes commencing: 23 May / 20 June
Nurse Intakes commencing: 09 May / 04 July
Unit 2 – Responding to Sexual Violence in Adults
Doctor Intakes commencing: 30 May / 25 July / 15 August
Nurse Intakes commencing: 16 May / 11 July / 29 August
Unit 3 – Responding to Sexual Violence in At-Risk Patients
Doctor Intakes commencing: 1 August / 19 September / 10 October
Nurse Intakes commencing: 18 July / 5 September / 17 October
All three units are accredited or endorsed for CPD by the RACGP; the Australian College of Emergency Medicine, the College of Rural and Remote Medicine and the Australian College of Nursing. The curriculum was developed with input from practitioners in remote practice as well as urban settings.
