Western NSW Primary Health Network (WNSW PHN) and Bloomfield Medical Group are pleased to announce that a new after-hours GP service for residents will commence operation on the weekend of May 8 and 9 in Orange.

The Orange After-Hours GP Clinic will be operating from 1pm to 5pm on Saturdays and 9am to 2pm on Sundays and Public Holidays in the BMG building at 1521 Forest Road, Orange, opposite the Orange Health Service.

WNSW PHN Acting CEO, Robert Strickland, says while the new After-Hours GP Clinic is initially operating as a trial, it will be an important addition to improving health outcomes for local residents.

“This new initiative is all about improving access to after-hours primary healthcare with a tailored service for the Orange community, with local GPs able to assist patients who are unable to wait to see their usual GP because of urgent medical conditions,” Mr Strickland said.

He added, “I’m proud that we’ll be funding this new service for Orange residents and I sincerely thank Bloomfield Medical Group for making this commitment to its local community.”

CEO for the Bloomfield Medical Group, Jenny Edwards, has confirmed the Orange After Hours GP Clinic was available to roster services across the Orange GP’s community.

“Orange GP’s are already supporting community health initiatives located at Bloomfield such as the COVID-19 Respiratory Clinic and Vaccination Clinic, and it’s great to now be able to deliver the further benefit of an After-Hours Service.”
The Orange After-Hours GP Clinic will offer bulk billing and offering a walk-in service, so prior appointments are not necessary.

The Orange After-Hours GP Clinic’s first day of operation will be Saturday May 8, 2021.
