Advance Care Planning in a pandemic

This case-based COVID-19 update will focus on Advance Care Planning (ACP). It will cover COVID-19 ACP considerations for patients who are vulnerable and/or have impaired decision-making abilities, the importance of updating ACPs, what palliative care looks like for a COVID-19 patient and exploration of relevant HealthPathway links and resources. This session will also address the importance of delivering culturally appropriate care in this challenging time and will conclude with a panel discussion and interactive Q&A session.
This session will cover the following learning outcomes:
- Engage patients, especially those who are vulnerable, and their families/Enduring Guardian in an informed discussion to establish and review Advance Care Plans relevant to COVID-19
- Develop knowledge of current Advance Care Planning resources
- Support patients with Advance Care Planning in a culturally appropriate manner
- Demonstrate an increased awareness of current local palliative care guidelines for patients with COVID-19
