NSW RDN: Mental health webinar: Managing patients with unexplained symptoms

Date: 13-05-2020 19:00:00 to 20:00

When 13h May 2020 7:00 - 8:00pm AEST

NSW Rural Doctors Network (RDN) invites you to attend a webinar on 'Managing patients with unexplained symptoms' with Dr Louise Stone.

The webinar is the third in a series of mental health sessions with Dr Stone. Each one will be based around a theoretical framework and will assist you in supporting the mental health of patients.

Patients with medically unexplained symptoms are challenging for us to manage, not only diagnostically, but also in terms of the therapeutic relationship. People expect to be given a name for their illness and without one they are often lost without a story to make sense of their suffering. Many will withdraw from health care altogether because they can no longer bear to face a system that invalidates their pain. In this session, we will take a practical, compassionate view of these patients and outline a strategy to help make sense of these conditions.

Workshops are separately bookable so you can attend one or attend them all.

There is a minimal fee attached to each workshop.

You may be eligible for Health Workforce Scholarship Program (HWSP) funding to support online learning including digital conferences, webinars and courses.

Certificates of Attendance will be provided for you to self-record your PDP.
