The Western NSW PHN is pleased to partner with the National Asthma Council Australia to deliver role-specific education on best-practice asthma and respiratory management for Practice Nurses.  Starting with the principles of diagnosis and management, each session then covers current statistics, paediatric and adult asthma, allergy, medications, device technique and COPD followed by an overview of conducting spirometry in general practice.

A new component of the workshop is an optional ‘Nurse-Led Asthma & Respiratory Clinics’ module covering education on creating and running Asthma and Respiratory Clinics in general practice. Concentrating on business skills and MBS item numbers, this session will provide Practice Nurses with skills to run an Asthma and Spirometry Clinic in their practice. These skills are also transferrable to other chronic diseases.

This optional module is designed so that Practice Managers can also attend.
