Most health professionals are taught little about the diagnosis and treatment of chronic swelling including lymphoedema during their training. Because of this, chronic swelling often goes undiagnosed and untreated for extended periods of time. Even worse, it is common for patients to be prescribed treatments which can worsen their condition, or they attempt to treat themselves using dubious ‘cures’. Join us for a light supper, networking and an update on the diagnosis, treatment and management of chronic oedema, varicose veins and telangiectasia, presented by two local clinicians.

Learning Outcomes

  • Identify symptoms of chronic oedema, and funding schemes to assist in cost of treatments & compression garments
  • Describe the 4 components of lymphoedema management
  • Locate and appropriately refer to an accredited Lymphoedema practitioner within the local region
  • Identify, assess and educate patients about treatment options for varicose veins and telangiectasia
